The Patrol Division provides police services to the public 24hrs a day, 365 days a year. Uniformed officers in marked vehicles deter crime by random and directed observation of all areas of the City. Patrol Officers investigate crashes and crimes, make arrests and transport prisoners, respond to citizen calls for assistance or to check on suspicious or unusual events, and enforce traffic laws. Patrol officers remove disabled vehicles from the roadway. They also see that road hazards like chuckholes and debris are either removed from the street or arrangements are made to have such cleared away. Support functions are also included within the Patrol Division. Some examples are Crime Prevention, Public Information, Auxiliary Police Unit, K9, and the Accident Investigation Unit. |
