Detective Bureau

The Detective Bureau is responsible for the investigation of all felony and serious misdemeanor crimes.  These investigations are aimed at bringing the violator before a court of law and recovering stolen property. Three basic types of investigations performed by Detective Bureau personnel are:

1.        Investigations of incidents which are a violation of the law.

2.        Personnel investigations to determine the suitability of applicants for positions of public trust.

3.        Investigation of conditions and circumstances that may be criminal in nature.

Detectives prepare the results of these investigations for presentation to the Grand Jury and prosecution. The Detective Bureau is commanded by a Lieutenant, who currently oversees 5 detectives or patrolmen assigned to Bureau duties.
