Animal Control Officer |
|
A major responsibility of the Westlake Animal Control Officer is responding to citizen complaints pertaining to animals. This provides the ACO with an opportunity to advise and educate the public about state laws and city ordinances, as well as offer solutions to animal problems. In addition, the ACO’s responsibilities include: picking up animals at large, managing the city kennel, notifying owners of found pets and coordinating adoption of homeless animals. The ACO assists the public in removing wildlife from homes and buildings, tends to injured, sick and trapped wildlife, and patrols areas of the city as assigned and enforces laws related to animals.
